Sigma Adblock is designed to operate without needing to know who you are. All data required for the extension to function is stored locally on your own device using the browser's built-in storage APIs. This data is never sent to our servers or any third party.

This locally-stored data includes:

Filter Lists: The ad-blocking and tracker-blocking rules are downloaded from public sources and cached locally on your device.

User Settings: The on/off state of the main protection switch and the "Inactive Tab Optimizer" are saved locally so the extension remembers your preferences.

Aggregated Statistics: The numbers shown in your dashboard, such as "Total Blocked" and "Total Data Saved," are calculated and stored locally. This data is purely numerical and contains no information about your Browse habits.

Session Data: Per-tab block counts and inactivity timers are stored temporarily for the duration of your Browse session and are discarded when you close your browser.

4. Internet Access

The core blocking functionality of the Extension works offline using the most recently downloaded filter lists.

Internet access is only required to periodically download updated versions of the public filter lists you have chosen. This process is automatic and ensures your protection remains up-to-date against new ads and trackers. This communication involves fetching the list files; it does not send out any of your personal data.

To provide its comprehensive features, Sigma Adblock requires certain permissions. We are committed to using these permissions only for their stated purpose to enhance your privacy and security.

host_permissions: ["<all_urls>"]: Required to block ads, trackers, and run privacy features on all websites you visit. The extension cannot protect you without this permission.

storage: Required to save your settings and aggregated statistics (like total blocked count) locally on your device.

declarativeNetRequest: The core privacy-preserving API used to block network requests without accessing their content.

alarms: Used for periodic tasks, such as checking for filter list updates and running the "Inactive Tab Optimizer".

webRequest: Needed for advanced features like the live block counting and the HTTPS-Only mode's fallback mechanism.

tabs: Required to manage tabs for features like reloading pages when protection is toggled and the "Inactive Tab Optimizer".

scripting: Required to inject the content script that provides cosmetic filtering, privacy protection, and performance enhancements on web pages.

notifications: Used solely to alert you if a website does not support a secure HTTPS connection.
